I find it amazing that any journal would have published such a skewed article as that.

What it doesn’t say is that a stay-at-home woman might not get divorced because she doesn’t have a job to support herself, might not cheat because her social circle is limited, and will have children in part because she feels obligated to.

I like Rio’s article, “Don’t Marry, Career Women”.

Hey Bibi, I **** to say I agree but I have been on both sides of this argument. This research does have a point. We as women want it all sometimes and mostly we have a superwoman mentatilty…choosing a career over children is not as bad as it sounds…for some women thier career are like thier children…meaning the care and time they put into it…it can be the love of thier lives…they will do whatever it takes to keep thier career in tact…as a mother would put herself in the way of traffic to protect thier child…wrong or right you have to consider that we as women are more educated and have more choices in the career market…

Is it really that unbelievable though? People who are dedicated to their careers tend to be ambitious people. Ambitious people are quite often people who are ruthless and not shy about trampling others when they get in the way of something they want. That’s true for men or women. So I don’t have that much trouble thinking there might be a correlation there. And believe it or not many women are still raised with the idea that their man should support them, and feel disappointed if it ends up being the other way around. Even if they at the same time want a career. I think many women are confused about what they want out of life, I would be if I were them; society is still working out what they SHOULD want out of life and they grow up with constant mixed messages on that question. It aint PC but it’s the truth.

The OP study probably is a massive oversimplification of the real picture, but it doesn’t merit the knee-jerk derision it’s getting. It at once amuses and disgusts me how so many people don’t bother to think things through when they hear something that goes against one of their cherished beliefs, but just respond with reflexive outrage.

99% of women today can’t afford to not have a job. A single woman couldn’t wait for a man to support her, even if she wanted to!

The best revenge is to do good in life. If he see’s your life is going great,and also that you dont seem to give a dam about him…it will eat him up. I would(CALMLY) let him know that you know. Keep it short, sweet and anger-LESS. And then I’d simply cut him out of my life. No calls, no seeing me…if if he happens to see you in school or work or whatever….act like he dont exist. BUT NEVER LET EM SEE YA SWEAT!!
